In just a single weekend, Apple Inc. managed to sell over 500,000 units of its new Apple iPhone. The anticipation was huge, and while there were a few minor glitches - mostly resolved now - the general consensus is that they were worth waiting for.
The advance of this micro-technology in the form of cell phones, mp3 players, PDA’s etc., is creating an amazing dependency on pocket-sized devices, and not just for the techies: stay-at- home-moms, children, even retired grandparents are jumping into the new trend with joyful - and addictive - abandon. We’ve come a long way, baby!
With all this advancement, however, there is still this minor niggle in the back of my brain that is forced to ask, “but is it really safe?” The verdict is still out on this one, with no one so far able to categorically say that this huge increase in brain and eye cancer is NOT related to cell-phone use; that this little hand-held device and the cell phone towers that power it are NOT causing an increase in autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and that these are NOT the issue behind increased infertility, new learning disorders, mysterious illnesses, or even confused bees that can no longer find the hives they’ve just left. As we’ve seen, the design and manufacture of iPod cases is in itself a growth industry. The first crop of cases is the “Hope” line, in which $3 of each of the seven models sold—including the Remix Metal and Sport Armband for iPod nano—will go to the Susan G. The difference between high-quality and low-quality iPod cases is generally apparent pretty quickly: fit and finish, materials, and “feel in the hand” tend to be a lot better on the higher-quality cases. The detailing on the cases is particularly charming, with some of them having divine little touches such as satin bows, felt buttons, flowers, or embroidery.Handmade cases can command a price premium over standard cases, and branded fashion a premium over even handmade cases. There are so many protective cases for your iPod that wading through the options can be daunting and the range of iPod cases is too wide, seductive and cost effective to be neglected. Ah, one hit wonders – songs that allow bands and artists to be famous for about thirty seconds. Love ‘em, hate ‘em, or shut off the radio in a fit of rage each time one airs, if you like music there is really no escape: one hit wonders are part of the musical world. Some are worth forgetting altogether – ahem, Do the Bartman – but others are well worth a listen, or fifty. The following is our selection of the best one hit wonders to put on your Ipod. Trust me, your friends will be jealous.
I’m Too Sexy: There is nothing quite as humorous as a man vocalizing his sexiness, sans a man who is not at all sexy doing it. Right Said Fred brought ego to a new height with this 1992 hit. I’m Too Sexy not only taught us what the heck a cat walk is, but it also topped the American charts for three whole weeks. Yes, three.seriously. Continue Reading »

We all know what the Apple iPod is capable of. Of course, one is able to download, store and play an almost infinite number of songs on just about any version of the iPod Nano. There are also iPods that can play movies, videos and show pictures and photographs as well. Indeed, the iPod is a fantastic item for someone to bring all of their favorite songs and singers with them wherever they go. Yup, the iPod pretty neat in that regard.
So, why would you want to waste the capabilities and abilities of your iPod Nano on stuff you already know and like?
Now, there are always favorite songs that you have to have with you each and every minute of each and every day. That makes sense, so go ahead, put that song on your iPod. But, even though it’s easy, effective and enjoyable to plaster your iPod full of familiar songs, that’s incredibly boring and bland. It’s like going to a high-end car dealer to test drive a Porsche, but you pout with your arms folded because you want to drive a Tempo. Exactly what do you have to lose? Continue Reading »

Baby Boomers want to have it all, and get it all done now, if not sooner. Have you taken notice of what you are doing? Why you are so busy? Are you sitting in the doctor’s waiting room? Are you stuck in traffic? Do you spend time on your lunch hour doing busy work for your boss?
With a new iPod, you can fill those lost minutes and hours with guilt free time spent on yourself. The New York Times can be read to you each day.
You can listen to the latest bestseller listed in Oprah’s book club. Music without commercials is available anytime. The latest podcasts are accessible anywhere. Continue Reading »

All of us folks who are lucky enough to already have an iPhone know how much fun they can be just to play around with. Playing with my iPhone a lot myself, I have discovered some cool tips and tricks that you may find useful.
1. If you tap once at the very top of the screen when you are on the internet, it will take you back to the top of the window rather than having to scroll all the way back up. A nice time saving feature.
2. If you set the font to the smallest size, you can read more in the internet window. An advantage of this is that when you want to click a link, you can pinch (expand) that area and the link will come up very large, making it much easier to click. Continue Reading »

It has been said that “where there is a will, there is a way.” That sentiment is well served by being applied to the purchasing of today’s cell phones and other electronic gadgets. The term techo-geek, short for Technology Geek, no longer applies to just the pocket protector using, braces wearing, non athletic, characters pictured in the TV shows and Movies. Now, this once derogatory term can be applied to the masses at large with no negative connotation whatsoever.
We all love our cell phones and PDAs and that love is only getting stronger as or lives demand our input in events at various locations simultaneously. As new technology provides more and more “stay in touch capacity.” We quickly fill that capacity with a new task that we add to our list. Technology is only feeding the internal human desire to do as much as possible, as fast as possible, while on the move. Continue Reading »
